梅干しと友達は古いほど良い

Romanized:
Umeboshi to tomodachi wa furui hodo yoi

Meaning of Japanese:
Both friends and pickled plums - the older the better

English equivalent:
Old friends and old wine are best
Old fish, old oil, and an old friend are best

The song we learned in Brownies was:

And I think we all new which ones are gold, don't we?

Hmmm... why do I have the feeling my education is incomplete? All we learned in Cub Scouts was how to tie knots and build little wooden cars.
