Kotowaza of the day: Take the plunge

Japanese:
案ずるより産むが易い

Romanized:
Anzuru yori umu ga yasui

Meaning of Japanese:
Childbirth is easier than the anticipation
An attempt is sometimes easier than expected

English equivalent:
The anticipation is worse than (the reality)
We have nothing to fear but fear itself

I don't think it's English, but there's the old saying about a journey of a 1,000 miles beginning with a single step that I think is related as well. You just have to take that first step...

Excellent idea, Safety Neal! Only problem is half the time I'm not sure if I've already used a particular Kotowaza or not, and Googling for Japanese in Blogger has proven problematic in the past.

Still, good suggestion. If I'm going to list related English phrases, why not related Kotowaza?
